The storied history of Saint Ignatius High School Football is now streaming. On February 24th, 2026, Coach Chuck “Chico” Kyle’s docuseries, The Object of the Game, officially released on Prime Video.
The docuseries itself is an expansion of Coach Kyle’s book under the same name. Both it and the docuseries detail Coach Kyle’s final season as Head Football Coach for Saint Ignatius while exploring the educational aspects of both professional and high school football. From IMDb, “The biggest names in American football join coach Chuck ’Chico’ Kyle as he embarks on a 40th and final season helming one of the greatest high school sports dynasties in U.S. history, and defines for all of us The Object of the Game.”
When IMDb said that some of the biggest names in football were in the docuseries, they weren’t lying. Over 15 of some of the most well-known and prestigious coaches are in this, including Bill Belichick, Urban Meyer, Sean McVay, and even NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. The film also includes other familiar names from Ignatius’ past, including Coach Nick Restifo Hon. ‘19 and Coach Dan Corrigan ‘78.
The three-part docuseries was directed by St. Ignatius graduate Matt Waldeck ‘02, co-founder of Zodiac Features. He has directed other films, such as I See You and Lovely Jackson.
Coach Chuck “Chico” Kyle ’69 transformed St. Ignatius High School football into a national powerhouse over 40 seasons (1983–2022), winning 11 OHSAA Division I State Championships and four national titles. He boasts an overall record of 353-90-1 before retiring at the end of the 2022 season.
The Object of the Game currently has overwhelmingly positive reviews, including an 8.9/10 star rating on IMDb and a 5/5 star rating on Prime Video.
