Debate team advances to state finals

so close to the finals

After the walk from Parma to Saint John’s Cathedral and back to Saint Ignatius on the Pilgrimage retreat, Cameron Colella ’12 was still able to win the 2nd speaker award at John Carroll University policy debate tournament held on October 15-16, 2010. from a field of 60 debaters.

Cameron and his partner, Jon Dokler ’11 also became the first team this year to advance to the state finals in March.  There were 30 teams from two states in competition.  The top eight teams advance early to the Ohio High School Speech League finals held in March 2011.

Also competing for Saint Ignatius were the teams of Kevin Pucci ’14 and Andrew Beddow ’14, Sean Lavelle ’14 and Kieran Kelly ’13, and Daniel Counihan ’13 and Zachary Leciejewski.  Except for Daniel, for all others this was their first tournament.
